Cleaning Polycarbonate

Polycarbonate sheets are not inherently resistant to abrasion. Be careful when cleaning and do not use abrasive cleaners.

All polycarbonate manufacturers recommend certain cleaning agents which do not affect the basic chemical structure of the polycarbonate. All the Manufacturers share these common guidelines to ensure a longer life to the sheet.

A mild household detergents may be used with a soft rag.  Never use aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents or glass window cleaners; they can chemically attack sheets.

Never use a cleaner that contains ammonia and/or any abrasive material since this will only leave the surface of the material with a lot of scratches. Products such as Lysol, Pinesol, Formula 409 will alternate the material and should NOT be used.
  • Mostly of the time a soft cloth and water are enough to blow all the dust and dirt off.
  • Avoid cleaning the surface at high temperature or in direct sunlight.
  • Do not scrub or use brushes otherwise you'll damage the UV-resistant film.
